A few weeks ago, iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove shared new details about her ankle injury that gained some attention across social media. In 2011, the former child actress was involved in a serious accident between a disabled tractor-trailer en route to the next stop on her Dancing Crazy Tour in Kansas. She and five others were harmed following its sudden collision.

Court documents show her tour bus driver and opposing motorist were driving with little time to brake. Cosgrove and her mother brought a claim against them for temporary disabilities, changes to their quality of life, and other unspecified damages. Fortunately, their bus accident attorney retrieved a maximum settlement for the traumatic event.

Now 28, and several years later, she recounts the mysterious “ailment” associated with her injury. When Cosgrove woke up from surgery for a broken ankle, she noticed a hole in her leg five inches above the site of injury. The nursing staff and doctors didn’t know why it was there or how it appeared.

“It was so strange, because when I woke up, I had a cast on, like, a soft cast, and then later I went back and they removed it,” she said, according to U.S. Weekly. Cosgrove had been on the “HypochondriActor” podcast, sharing her take on events in October. “I was asking questions like, ‘What’s this? What’s that?’ And then I was like, ‘Wait, why is there a hole in my leg?’ So, they were like, ‘Oh, we didn’t do that.”

In a situation like this, it can be challenging to differentiate if this is a case of medical negligence or considered part of the bus accident lawsuit. Medical malpractice claims are a form of personal injury. It allows you to file a lawsuit against health care professionals for not meeting the standard of care during treatment and causing sudden accidents or injuries.

Whereas the bus accident would warrant a direct civil lawsuit against both bus drivers for recklessness. A personal injury lawyer would be able to clarify, prove, and provide the legal advice needed. It took several months of recovery time for Cosgrove’s ankle and the mysterious hole to heal.
